Vancouver Volcanoes Announce Expansion of Youth Program and New Director of Youth Basketball
The Vancouver Volcanoes would like to announce a new Director of Youth Basketball, former Volcanoes Player, and current Associate Head Coach, Porter Troupe. Porter Troupe played 3 seasons with the Volcanoes from 2006-2008 before embarking on a 17 year Professional Career in Europe (Romania, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Portugal). Porter has over 15 years of coaching and mentoring youth, experience he will bring into his role as Director of Youth Basketball.
Assisting Youth Basketball Development in Vancouver’s growing community has been a major focus of the Volcanoes since their induction to the TBL in 2020. With a new Youth Program Director, Porter Troupe, the Volcanoes renew their commitment to youth skill development, and readiness for live competition.
From July to August 2024, the Volcanoes will host a total of 6 separate multi-day youth camps geared towards building the fundamentals of basketball skills. 3 of these camps will be hosted by the Volcanoes at Firstenburg Center in Vancouver, July 8th-12th, July 22nd-26th, and August 5th-9th. These camps will be from 9 AM – Noon, only cost $195, and are available for ages 8-12.
The Volcanoes expand their Youth Camp Offering by partnering with Nike Sports Camps to provide 3 additional multi-day youth basketball camps. These camps aim to sharpen skills with a daily schedule covering strength and conditioning, shooting and dribbling drills, gameplay tactics, and scrimmaging. The first two weeks of camp (Jul 15-19) and (Jul 29-Aug 2) will be at Evergreen HS (Vancouver, WA), and will also be fundraisers for Evergreens HS basketball programs. The location for the 3rd week of camp (Aug12-16), is still being determined. Please reach out if you are interested in hosting a Summer Camp as a fundraiser for your school/athletics program during this week. The 3 Volcanoes x Nike Basketball Camps will run from 9 AM – 4 PM for ages 7-15 at a price of only $345.
